RASTAFARI COUNCIL, GHANA REQUESTS GOVERNMENT TO INVITE CUBAN MEDICAL BRIGADE TO HELP GHANA DEAL WITH THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC

PRESS RELEASE

1st April 2020

The RCG in the light of the severity of the COVID-19 Pandemic encourages the government to, based on our bilateral relationship to invite Cuban Doctors as further pressure increases on our medical systems and personnel.

The Council encourages the government to take this urgent step as a follow up to the negotiations already advanced by African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson Mr. Kwesi Quartey.

Cuba with its experience in dealing with this pandemic effectively in the Caribbean and the consistent health support it offers to the international community is well equipped to help Ghana control the spread of the pandemic and to restore health to victims of recorded cases.

Whiles the Council applauds both the government for the steps initially taken to control the pandemic and the Ghanaian public for collaborating effectively to halt this existential threat, it will also be beneficial for the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to make a formal request for a Cuban Medical Brigade as initiated by the African Union Commission.

As we make this call, we also urge the Ghanaian public to continue to adhere strictly to the safety protocols which have been instituted to prevent the spread of the disease.

Long Live Ghana.
